Okay, in order to have a chip on a p28, you have to install a jumper to make the board read the different chip.

Well, my good friend Kevin Hiatt here in valdosta, who chipped my ecu, installed a switch on mine, so I can switch it between super-fuel efficient mode (stock p28) and the race mode, i'm actually running a katman chip right not.

Here are some pictures.

The only thing is, i have to let the car sit for a minute before i can flip the switch or the ecu will get jacked, and if someone ever flipped it while i was driving it would probably jack my ecu as well.

Ocasionally since we installed the switch it will throw a code 68, but i cannot find what that is supposed to be on any list of ecu codes.

But if i restart the car, the code goes away and does not come back.

I'll keep up to date, but i'm going to try to find a spare p28 in case something bad happens.

i would have just bought another ecu it takes a minute to change the ecu.
so ur running a stock sngle cam program on ur dual cam eng?

yep, it takes a little extra fuel pressure, but it's good for the 100+ miles that i put on the car every day.

I'd put one of those switches with a cover on it (you have to flip the cover open and then flip the switch) as a safety measure. I don't really understand how that's supposed to work though (no significant knowledge of ecu's here)..... is it just breaking the jumper connection??

yeah, i would have bought another ecu too, but $75 vs free was a hard decision to make at the time.

yeah, with the jumper broken, it runs the stock maps, vtec engagement, redline, etc.

I have heard of people doing it, but never knew how to do it myself. What exactly did you do to make the switch? How well does your motor run with a stock P28 program? (I would imagine quite shitty...)

the idea is simple basically a larger capacity ROM is required (512k), this way you burn in two different programs on the ROM use a switch to change between the 'pages on the ROM' - programs.

Another way is to make a jumper (J1) OBDI ecus shorted out, this way you get stock maps or ROM maps (but in eitehr case a resting the ecu is required)

why dont you put another switch for power to the ecu, so you can hit the rom switch, cut ecu power, resume ecu power, and all will be well. and you can do it by just pushin in the clutch ans hittin the switches. just an idea. plus having the ecu power off will make the car harder for someone to steal. and ive been working on your custom intake manifold, it should be the ****! im sure it will make more power than a skunk2. and no one will ever know.............

It does not run tha bad with the stock p28, it's very efficient, but definetly not fast.

I don't work it like i normally do of course, it would be too hard on it.

So far, i am very pleased, but still, all day i've wanted to use fast-mode.
