Default ECU questions

I have a 96 HX and I was wondering what should I do. I was thinking about putting a different ECU on it so I can run an aftermarket intake but then putting a VFAC on it so that I can run my V-Tec at 3000 rpm. Please give me any info that you can also if anyone has any good posts on which ecu's came from which car and like the pros and cons of each that would be very helpful also.

What's up, dude.

Soooo thinking about keeping the HX? :D Yay!

Anyway... to the ECU thing.

You might want to go this route, since your car is obd2.

Get a conversion Harness, Get a VAFC ( or if you can afford it get Hondata... oh how I wish I had the money. ), drop the Vtec c/o to 3000 on the vafc ( 2700 if you get Hondata ) and use a y8 or aftermarket ( Skunk2 ) manifold.

It's hard to find the maps for ecu's.. I wish I could get them so I could tune it myself but i'm having no luck in my search.

By the way.. the obd1 ecu's you can use would be an obd1 p28 a02 ( z6/y8 ), or the DX, CX ECU. In my opinion, it won't matter since you're going to re-tune and fine-tune your maps to your specific tastes and the motor/setup you're using. But most people are going to tell you to get a p28.

Also using an obd1 ecu that's NOT a VX will allow you to skip that EGR valve problem. :D Yay!

If his area requires emissions testing, he'll never be able to pass it with an OBD-1 ECU.

Don't leave out important details like that.

Oh yeah where do you live? I forgot... my car is obd1 anyway and im doing HX. Sorry about that.

You won't see straight out HP Gains without tuning and there are so many factors involved in it. Who tunes it, motor condition.

But I can say with the tranny swap and such you should be pulling much harder and stronger.

The only way to find out if something is worth it is to do it. No sense in not... especially if you have the means.

I live in Arkansas so I don't have to worry about Emissions.
