ecu questions
have a 99 civic hb. i have a 98 integra ls. now the company that put it in said they had to use a 99 si ecu. and just deactivate the vtech. well i got the car today and my check engine light doesnt work now. you know when you go to turn on the car the check engine light comes on for 2 seconds. well mine doesnt do that now. is this common. if not what ecu will i need to use. i am planing on putting in gages...water, exhaust and such. so what do you guys think. is this a big deal, should i go back and make them fix it. i also think they just pulled my check engine light bulb. if so is there any kind of offence i can pull them on in court. i have only had problems with this company. a 2 day job took 2 1/2 weeks. sorry for the long story but i really dont know what to do. thanks for the help
what ecus are you guys running and do your check engine lights work or do you throw codes. thanks

Dude, take the engine back and request the correct ECU!!!!
Or check to make sure you don't have a VTEC engine....what is the code on the block?
B18B? That is the LS.....if it is different they screwed you over.

Re: ecu questions (phatcivic99)
You don't have to use a 99 SI ecu. However, if you want to run an LS ecu you will need to contact either Place Racing or King Motorsports for a wire harness jumper. I had to get one for my b18c1 ecu. I got mine through Mahdavi Motorsports, but they get them from King. I paid 285 shipped to my door from Mahdavi. Place wanted like 315 plus shipping. I don't know how much it is straight from King though. Call and ask if you're interested in running the correct ecu. Just make sure you give them all the information like obdI or II motor and your civic's year. For 99, honda changed the engine and interior wire harnesses for the civic. If you had a 96-98, your harness would plug right into the ls ecu, and it would work. But you're in the same boat I was in. Good luck.

Re: ecu questions (phatcivic99)
They may not have known about that. The guys who did my swap didn't know either. I had to run my gsr off my ex ecu for a little bit while that jumper was being made. Trial and error a lot of times. We didn't know that honda changed all the harnesses and ecu's for the civics in 99. Oh well. Live and learn. As far as legal issues, i seriously doubt you could make them pay for the jumper. It's the easiest install there is. your stock harness plugs into one end, then the other end of the jumper plugs into the ecu. a word of caution though, king forgot (?) to put in the wires for the crankspeed fluctuation sensor and the secondary O2 sensor, so you may want to deal straight with them on that one. Or call up place racing. both of their numbers are in just about any super street or sport compact mag. let me know if you have any more problems, and hopefully the knowledge i gained from my swap will help you out.
