Default ECU questions

How can you tell if the ecu is auto or manual when you look at the cover? I dont want to get fool or scam by someone. I want to pick up a P28 ecu.

look for the p28 in the serial number. i believe auto ecu's are p05, not sure though.

Searching provides answers to both those questions.

There's a serial number on the side, the number in the middle is the type of ECU.

So if it's like XXXXXXXXXX-P28-XXXXXXXX - it's a p28

If it's XXXXXX-P03-XXXXXXX - it's P03 - quite simple.

As for manual or automatic, you have to pull it apart.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by philosofy1 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">look for the p28 in the serial number. i believe auto ecu's are p05, not sure though.</TD></TR></TABLE>

No, a P28 is for D16Z6 motors, then there's a manual P28, and an automatic P28. It's only for a Z6, they don't change the number with the auto/manual dependencies, just what type of engine it is. P05 is the ECU to 92-95 D15B8's (CX).

EDIT:

Lower right corner of ECU.
