Default ECU problems...Need help!

I'm having some problems with my car. I currently have a D16y8 with a t-03 turbo set up, the transmission was automatic but I changed it to a manual. The car is still running on the automatic ecu, and it was giving me some minor problems before but now the car is really acting up. It bucks alot, idles funny sometimes and looks to cut out on me. The turbo set up was done properly, so I know nothing is wrong there. I realized i never revved the engine too high so this afternoon I decided I would rev it up to 7000rpm, but when I did, it redlined at around 5000rpm. A friend of mines said that it was the ecu, and that i need to change it. He said that an SI ecu would work but I'm not sure of this. Can anyone help me with this? Which ecu's work properly with a d16y8 and which one should I look for. The one i currently have is a p2p. My friend has a p2p ecu also but its a little bigger than mines, and the car wont start with his own plugged in. Thanks alot for looking.

so whats your fuel setup? i dont think the automatic ecu will work correctly so just find yourself a manual ecu.

for my fuel setup i'm just using an fmu and an inline fuel pump. i forgot to mention that i bought a manual computer a few months ago but when i plugged it in the car surged alot and still wasn't acting right. i don't have that ecu though because my friend borrowed it for his car and the shop that the car was in sold it, and gave him that other bigger p2p which is useless to me...i don't know what i should do.
