Which ECU Dastek or hondata ?
Hi all , im new here, maybe someone can help me out . Got quite a few mods done on my ek4 vti (b16a2) hatch such as intake,manifold,exhaust,t/body,induction,decat,light flywheel etc and looking to get it remap'd.
Could either go for a dastek uni-chip or hondata chip, does anyone know if there is much difference between chips or if its more a case of who maps it ?
Obviously want whatever gives best power improvement.
Also considering skunk2 cams does anyone know what sort of bhp increase you can expect on a b16a2 with skunk2 cams or perhaps integra type r cams?
Thanks, bob

It's an independent and fully tunable computer.
Dastek is a POS piggy back bullshit ECU. Not the best if you wanna keep your engine in one piece.
Though you're really not running anything that hardcore, I'd get a chipped OBD-I ECU (they solder in a socket and then they can burn basemap chips and it just clicks into the socket).
So you can get a chipped OBD-I ECU, plug it in, get some blank chips, take it to a dyno, they can tune it on crome or neptune, and then when it's tuned they just burn the image (.bin file) to a basemap and the ECU will act that way.
You can do just about anything you can do with hondata with a chipped OBD-I ECU, even 2 step launch control, CEL shift light, etc.
No sense spending tons of money for something where something cheaper can do the same.
It's like paying for a spoon rad reservoir....the stock one will do the job....

A short ram air intake such as an the Injen short bore will increase your throttle response (less piping for the air to go through) and give you maybe 1-3hp.
A full CAI such as the V2 will have a longer response, cost 3x as much, and give you 2-7hp.
I say short ram intake ftw!
