Default ECM problem

1992 Civic with 1.5 16valve. When jumping the service connecter to read the error codes the check engine light just stays on does not blink or flash. Is this a sign that the ECM is defective.

In fixing this vehicle We have replaced fuel pump (because of no pressure), New fuel relay, new ICM (incorrect test reading after having weak spark).

Distributer is 180 out, but the plug wires were swithched by someone and the vehicle has run this way for over a year.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Almost sounds like you don't have the jumper in the plug all the way. I use a paper clip or something close to that, something that i can really jam in there.

Without the jumper in all the way it acts as normal. It will not be in the code read mode. The little cover is just that a cover no connection inside.

ie. open normal, closed read.

That happened to me once too. Just make sure it's in properly.

In all the way and same result. check engine light still stays on.
Even pulled one side to see if one side or the other would give the light on but if jumper is not on boyh side it works as normal. Check engine light goes off after about 5 secs.
