Default ebrake wont 'click'

I was driving down the road about a month ago and hit a huge bump. Heard a weird noise and now my ebrake wont 'click' and hold in place. It still grabs so the ebrake is still working, just wont stay up. What should I be checking? My buddy did my rotors recently and he said everything checked out ok and that its probably something inside of the car by the ebrake. What should I be looking for?

Thanks for any help.

hey bro i think all u need to do is open up the center console and see if the e-brake **** is still in place and check to see if the bolt is still holding the metal wire...if it is not that then i guess its some serious problem.

Yeah...just lube it up good...LOL. That really cracked me up, thanks for the laugh.

I think 93_cxEG was on the right track. Your just gonna have to pull the plastic covers off and see if everything is hooked up correctly. You may have broken the "tooth" on the ratchet sytem that makes the pleasing clicking sound.

Good luck figuring it out...and remember if all else fails just put some lube in it.

Lube works wonders, and has many more uses than just on your Johnson!

If there's a problem you could always go to a pick-n-pull and grab a new assembly? The problem has to lie in the handle somewhere.

take your center console apart....just a few screws and check out the e brake handle....not complicated once you look at it....something may have shifted or broken down there that keeps it from holding up.

Too much effort. The lever still clicks {fairly certain} whether or not the e-brake cables are connected. And he says the e-brake still works, just not clicking.

I have the same problem this guy has. I've inspected the ratchet mechanism and still can't figure this one out. I've tried putting a new button spring on, but that was no good.

The ebrake works fine, but after releasing the button it remains "pushed" and the lever falls back to the down position.

Anyone know what exactly to fix?
