What tires are you using? Quality tires are a huge part of the equation.

Brembo blanks and Hawk pads have always suited me just fine. I'm making about 440WHP.

I just went through a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires.

Before people start making suggestions, have you done a tune-up on your brakes? (break is the wrong spelling)

Is your pedal firm? Are your tires bald? How are your suspension joints?

Bigger brakes won't necessarily stop you faster. They may just lock up and actually increase the stopping distance.

Read reviews on pads before you buy some. It's a pain in the a'ss to constantly have to wipe down your wheels with dusty pads.

Brembo blank rotors. EBC or Hawk pads are both the winning selection, and they both have low dust "street" pads, as well as high grip "track" pads. As has already been said, though, there's a lot more to your braking system than the pads and rotors - proper tires, suspension, and a brake hydraulic system are even more important than pads and rotors.

keep in mind that slotted rotors will provide better braking it will also shorten the life of your pads.

this is due to the fact that the point of the slot is to scrap the surface of the pad off each time it passes by. This keep clean pad for the rotor and prevents scorched pad material and dust from reducing the drag/ adhesion (if you use ceramic pads) force on the rotor

^^
Thats all a myth. Slotted and drilled rotors have less surface area for brake pads to bite. Cheap knock off drilled and slotted rotors crack and the big brands are they only ones to be trusted.

theres a write up on here explaining the reason why solid rotors are better.

There's also some unfortunate chatter about Brembo rotors moving their mfr-ing to China. No longer made in Italy. So, all the same crap now as the other white box junk. (Discussion begins here.) There is an option out of Brazil (using Brazilian steel), worth considering: VGX. The retailer at that link also sells brake pads that are manufactured in CANADA. Like, whoa. Pretty surprised to see that.

Ugh, don't remind me. Also Kasey Rae something? ... the "Call Me Maybe" girl.

But, yeah: Pretty much I'm surprised when I see anything made anywhere in North America anymore. Or anywhere in the G20, to be honest.

Carly Rae Jepsen. Also Celine Deon, Drake, and Avril Lavigne. All Canada's fault.

At least you gave us Randy Bachman

just researched slotted and vented, and unless your tracking or racing your car, braking power is compromised on the streets ( meaning less braking grip ). on the track, they heat up so bad, that you want ventilation ( slotted and drilled ) but on the street, you get better grip on blanks. zinc coating will keep them from rusting, but that's about the gist on rotors. Unless your Dropping big $$$$$ on vented drilled and slotted, personally not worth buying $200 and under rotors that look " pretty ".
I would rather trust grip on the streets to brake in time, and not wreck my car...
buy quality brake pads, and quality blanks.....
