ebay turbo kit
yeah i know another ebay turbo kit but its comin off of my girlfriends brothers ef hatch. he had it on there for about a month and a half. he wants to sell the whole kit to me for a couple hundred dollars. i already have a cast iron turbo manifold from the guy i bought the car off of so im not worried about the shitty one the kit comes with cracking but i also have heard stories about the housing cracking right in half. is it worth a few hundred dollars to get this kit? i would eventually be upgrading to a garrett once i have the money. car is a 98 ex d16y8

Re: ebay turbo kit
its worth a shot lol. the only bad thing i have heard about those kits is the manifold, and since you have a cast iron one, u should be okay. as long as you have some kind of tune.
also people say that u should break those kits in for awhile before u pound on your car.

The turbo seals have been known to go out and various other gaskets and stuff that usually come with those are typically crap.
Most of the other stuff should at least be alright to work for a light turbo setup. As long as its just a few hundred and you dont have to use it too long, it'll be alright to at least start your setup.

Re: ebay turbo kit
Why does everyone rate things in terms of PSI? I think i've echoed this enough times throughout my time on HT. You need to set power goals, not boost pressure limits. As for the kit, if you really want to buy it, go for it. The intercooler isn't horrible and the piping is pretty hard to f**k up so it might be worth it. Just know that those turbos are known to be junk and the wastegates aren't the best at controlling boost. There is a risk of overboosting and wreaking havoc in that regard...
