my frend has a 99 LS and he got a 2 piece intake from ebay for like 30 bucks. a lot better than paying 180 for a name brand one that does almost the same thing

ebay intakes do the same thing as a $180 intake would do. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Thats incorrect. The AEM CAI has a fuckload of R&D in it...and outperforms any intake on the market.
Now mufflers, a straight through muffler is a straight through muffler.

i do agree that have a fuckoad of research and development put into their intakes but i wouldn't really say they make a difference that one could notice. if i had to guess i'd say it's more in their filter, probably more free-flowing or something (i remember reading an article in sport compact and they tested all the name brand intakes)
but anyways AEM spends the time to test and develop their products and are actually legal to use which is cool

i would say a ebay intake wouldnt have a "good" filter on it compared to a AEM
i would pick up a ebay intake and go buy a k&n
If your just doing a muffler for the sound a muffler is a muffler

Re: (Average Al)
I think that an intake is an intake, the filter is what will really hinder any intake. I run an ebay CAI or short ram (depending on the weather), and use a K&N cone filter & have no complaints at all.
An ebay muffler will probably flow fine, the only concern that I have is the canister size, and filling. I would imagine that the filler will blow out faster, and the canister size (typically ebay specials are smaller) will increase sound levels more than an expensive aftermarket.
I may be wrong, but these are the things that I notice....

I think ebay mufflers can turn out to be **** also. Its not just design for mufflers, its durability. Search around for threads about ebay mufflers falling apart at the welds.

The AEM V2 does wonders i tell ya. YOU ACTULLY GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT! CAI gives u increased hp in LOW rpm and Maybe MID rpm ranges... r u racing in low rpm now???!!! the V2 takes alot of air and forces it thru a smaller pipe to speed it up causing a sound frequency alowing it to plumm air in thru the IM,head,and to the chamber of magic. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by eg`6 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> a 2 piece intake from ebay for like 30 bucks. a lot better than paying 180 for a name brand one that does almost the same thing</TD></TR></TABLE>

Re: ebay mufflers and intakes?? (HatchEh2)
15 bucks i just found a short ram for on eBay. 15 bucks! for a polished pipe and a filter and all necessary parts. That is pretty damn good, youll get horse poer from it definetly.
I rather spend 15 bucks for a e-gay intake then spend 180 on a brand name that has like 2 more horsepower.....its not worth the cash, save for turbo istead of buying an intake if your gonna do that.
Just my .2 cents, hate all you want.

Intakes=Good
Mainly because all hi-flow conical filters with a metal pipe do the same thing. Go for it
Mufflers= Bad
Fart cannons, bullfrogs, sound like ****!

actually cold air intakes give u power at the higher rpms and short rams with more of a gain at lower rpms
