Default ebay hid's

are these any good?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

Do 92 eg's use h4's? I know the diffeerent numbers justify different colors but which are brighter. Does bi-xenon mean you have both high and low beam? Thnks

1) No, they're not any good. You're fitting a rebased D2R bulb into a reflector housing that is not designed for HIDs. There is also no glare shield, and the reflector geometry is completely off, so the glare will be horrible, and the cutoff will be almost non existant. Also, the fact that your car has a fluted glass lens makes it almost impossible to use HIDs with any decent result. The scatter will be astronomical.

2) Yes, 92-00 civics use H4/9003 bulbs. In some other countries, the 92-95 civic headlights used an H4H bulb, which is identical, but with a smaller base.

3) Yes, the different numbers are different colors. It's called the Kelvin scale. Also, the higher the kelvins (K), the lower the lumin output. IE, a 4300K (natural white) will have a far higher output than a 14000K (purple) bulb.

4) Yes, bi-xenon is hi/lo.

I suggest you read the lighting FAQ in my sig.

I'd recommend these for a 5th gen. They're designed to have HIDs in them, and they come with the proper HID kit.

Yes, a lower Kelvin rated bulb will put out more light (be brighter), but not by much. A 4300K bulbs puts out 16.6% more than a 14000K (obnoxious purple colored). So once you find a decent kit, get the color you want. Stock Evo's are 4300K, a lot of people get 6000K.

You not only have to look at the lumin output, but also how the human eye reacts to the color of light. A 14000K kit is going to put out ~17% less light, and it's also one of the colors the eye is least reactive to.

Yeah, pretty much exactly what I said. 4300K puts out 1400lm while 14000K puts out 1200lm. I like 6000K the best, it's most attractive to me.

HID kit = rice.
HID that are sold on ebay have a pretty easy step by step wiring. If you're dumb enough to throw a kit into a halogen housing you might as well ask for a kit.
If you're a sponsor selling illegal hid kits, by all means i'll report it.
Many stupidity is tolerated here. But going beyond stupidity is asking "are these ebay lights ok? are they brighter than others?, etc". This is a tech forum not a rice forum. Go milk a bull

Chill out man, this thread is going to help at least one person to not buy an ebay HID kit and blind all of us he is sharing the road with.

That's dope. I had considered those rojectors for a retro fit; I had no idea that TYC had made some that were already HID.

Get the tyc halogen for 100 bucks a pair and swap projectors w/the tsx. You'd get a MUCH better light output on the road. Even with those housings, u still need the ballasts (D1S which working ones are hard to find...most D1S used on ebay cost around 100 a set and they have about 4 yrs of use), you would also need a harness. That's about 150 you'd have to spend + shipping. About 180 overall + the headlights and bulbs + shipping.
180 + 550 + 50 = 780
My route: TYC headlights = 100
tsx projectors = 130
d2s bulbs = 30
ballasts = 100
You're looking at about 360. You'll be saving 420 bucks and im sure u wouldnt wanna throw that much cash out the window...
The tsx or any 2.5" lense projector fits in there nicely on the TYC halogen projector housing so it's basically a perfect swap with almost no modification.

u'll tend to mess up more with your oem headlights. Mostly due to aiming the projector and make them straight so the cutoff line can be ve ry nice and horizontal.
But u gotta be patient to do that job. Gotta run back and forth to your headlight-less car then mount them on the car without sealing the lense of the headlight back into the housing. It's a biatch to aim them but once it's done ull feel proud of urself :D
BTW, what happened to ur car? stolen along w/the retrofitted headlights?

don't go with s2k projectors.
supply and demand... no s2k projectors around and so much demand for them. So if you find one ull be getting them for at least 500 a matching pair. And not the clear but fresnel lenses.
