some people cant justify paying that much have simple pipes (i dont like the idea of it either)

nonetheless, people say DC replica headers work just as good as authentics

TTT

i believe if you dont have any exhaust leaks and your cat is still there then it shouldnt be a problem

Don't get EBAY headers, they sound horrible IMO and you don't gain much HP.
Honestly I doubt you'll pass smog with them.
IMO it would be better for now to just get a junkyard OEM header if you are just wanting to pass smog tests.
Then save up for some nice headers. Your car will thank you.

Lol, yup.
If anything get the replica DC headers. The real DC headers are 50 state legal I think. So logically the replicas should be. Also try fitting a heat shield back over them, its stealthy.
Well, on the sound part, it's not my real beef with them. My cousin had real DC 4-2-1. Got a hole, went to EBAY. BIG im mean BIG difference.

The 99dx has the o2 and cat on the header. Without a cat you will fail before thwy even hook it up to the machine.
Without both 02 sensors hooked up you'll throw a cel therefore fail emmissions on that account also.

Ive owned both dc ceramic and ebay stainless steel headers. They both sound the same at least with the stock exhaust they do.

or if you want, jhpusa sells o2 sensor spacers you can use in the header so you wont throw a CEL. my friend used it on his ek coupe when he put the test pipe in and it didnt throw any check lights.

don't get the dc ceramics. over time the ceramic coating chips off and header starts rusting. as soon as i finish buying all the parts for my turbo kit that pos is going out.

@fastrxu: This I did not know.
@OP: you said your manifold is cracked now? If it is leaking exhaust, I highly doubt you'll pass. In Henry County Illinois we don't have emissions
@hondatechnics: About the ceramic chipping following into rust, this is true. If DC makes a stainless steel header, I think that would be ok then.

IMO I wouldn't even bother makin the dx motor any faster.
Just get a D16Z6.
Like I said up there ^^^ we don't have emissions, I don't know too much about it all.

cracked headers on the ej6's is a honda recall. call your honda dealer and they should replace it for free.
Did this to my 97 dx with cracked headers. It's complicated when the cat is RIGHT there next to the engine...

This would actually be the best idea, for now until you want more power

The cel problem has nothing to do with the distance the 02 is from the stream of exhaust gas.
The dx has two(2) oxygen sensors. Primary on the cat, and secondary after the cat. Aftermarket headers only have one bung. So the fact of the matter is that you will have 1 out of 2 o2 sensors.

Thats way too much trouble for 1 whp

CALIFORNIA = NO!!!

Unless you have a cool smog tech who does not actually do a visual inspection. It will not pass visual inspectionat all.
It WILL pass the sniffer, if you have a good catalytic conveter.

Easy at that

No, you wont pass smog test with ebay headers. I have them and i failed. But idk what you guys are trippin about that ebay headers suck. They may not be as effective as DC headers hp wise, but they sound nice. My car has a deep, nice sound to it. Not ricey at all
