Default ebay header???'s

ok, so i've heard some bad things about the headers on ebay, but they all seem to be about shitty welds. i'm thinking that if i pick one of these up for like $110, when i get it i can check all the welds and have it fixed if need be, right? i know what you're all gonna tell me "just buy a used dc", but the only ones i can find are both dented and $200+. the only main difference i can tell is the collector on the ebay unit is 2.1" instead of 2.5" let me know your opinions. by the way, i'm on a tight budget with my upcoming wedding, but i need my toys too dammit!

You'll probably save in the long run by just buying a quality header now.

Buying one shitty header and one good header later is going to be more expensive than just buying a good header in the first place.

I would like to see dyno numbers from a quality header and a "shitty" ebay header on the same car in the same conditions. Everyone is always quick to say those are shitty. Probably wont gain any power or the fit shitty without really knowing. IF you dont spend $400 on a header, then you are wasting your money. I am running one right now. I bought with leftover money from selling my turbo kit and going back to stock but I threw away my stock ****. No fitment problems. No cracking or anything else. I cant tell a difference on the "butt" dyno but I doubt you could with a name brand one

1 sentence comes to mind *you pay for what you get* dude I use to buy from ebay too, but when it comes to stuff like headers, intakes, or n-e thing as far as performance its always better going top dog !

thank you specv5150. i wanted to hear from somebody that actually had one and not people that insist on buying the most expensive **** because it should be better.

Bwahahahahahahahaha

You have NO proof. What, did your butt tell you that the AEM intake you bought outperformed the cheap ebay one. I am all for buying what will give you the most bang for the buck. I dont think $2-300 for a name brand header is a bad price IF it outperforms the cheap ebay ones. Come with dynos. I didnt buy mine for performance so I may be a bit biased, but you can't just makes claims like that without proof.

Well to reply to the shitty header when i first purchased my hatch i bought a chikara or something for $120 and it ended up having welds breaking and not much power gain--in all lasted about 1 year maybe?

Oh well, unless your buying an SMSP/Rage/Bisi header, the gains are pretty much pointless anyways. So I guess saying that the ebay headers are as worthless as all the other ones might not be too far off

The fitment is what always sucks. They angle wrong or never line up with the bolts on the bottom. The welds on the ones I have seen looked alright.

what kind of setup were you running (what motor in what car)? as far as between the 2 parts, i was wanting to get a one piece anyway.

the reason DC,spoon, jun, and greddy headers cost 200+ is mainly bc they have to pay a BIG overhead(rent,ADS,etc

The reason the expensive ones are expensive if because:

1. They actually perform R&D and testing
2. They can charge more because they have a well known name.

so the cheaper headers just copy the expensive header's measurements after they do the expensive R+D, right? so then in theory, they should be about the same as the more expensive minus some material differences, right?

If I were to buy an ebay one make sure it's a Megan Racing header. Don't get anything that's chrome plated.

That is the dumbest thing i've heard. You think that an egay header is up to par with a Toda or a Spoon header? You think that the cheap *** headers out there spend a fraction of the time on R&D or quality? I doubt it. Manufacturers like Toda and Spoon etc. are proud to display their graphs cause they actually produce power. As for the cheaper ones they don't display theirs cause there probablly is'nt too much to brag about.
Don't get me wrong, there maybe some "decent" cheap headers out there, like a needle in a haystack though. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

Hell, go buy an OBX header if thats the case. My .02 on this topic.

Dude i'll take an ebay CAI and spray it with heat resistant paint and whoop the **** out of your dirty *** AEM CAI.

As for a header however i'd go with a name brand personally.

some of the header on ebay are the same brands that you ll see in the import mags....the only way you ll find out is the try it out yourself.... if you dont like the one you get sell it for 70% you bought it for and get a "NAME BRAND" one
