What year is your Civic? What exactly has failed on your dizzy? If it is just a dizzy housing problem then 92-95 Civic OEM housings cost only around $100.

Distributor King has good prices; many good reports here; but also some bad reports, like the other person said.

Then it is highly likely that either just the igniter or the ignition coil failed. Try the tests for the coil and igniter at http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/faq.html#startrun. You can save yourself money by narrowing this down.

Also, are there any engine codes being thrown? Have you also checked for codes stored in the ECU?

One other remote possibility for now: How old are the ignition wires? Are the ignition wires OEM?

If you did the tests and feel pretty sure it is the coil, yes, but only buy an OEM new one. Get it from a place like www.bkhondaparts.com . Run you around $100. If you have time to mess with this, you could also go to a junkyard and pull some used OEM coils off cars. When one fails, switch to another... Just depends on how much dough is in your wallet and how much time you have to play with the car.

The distributor, and especially the igniter and coil, are the achilles heel of Hondas. Fortunately they are not too hard to replace, and if you keep buying OEM ones, they last a long time. Beware that if either fails, the other is often not far behind. Bad electronic signals from one tend to foul the other.

If it's not the coil, then you will have a spare one. Coils last maybe seven years, brand new and OEM.

i have a 94 dizzy with a good coil i can sell you. If I were you just go to autozone or parts store and pick up a full replacement rich porter dizzy for 300$. Its new, autozone is local so no shipping, plug and play, and lifetime warranty. I have never had an issue with rich porter dizzies. I have searched this issue for quite some time and have found that ebay dizzies are a no go. Not worth the headache. Go for peace of mind and pay a little extra.
