Ebay crank pulley good? Badd?
I need a new crank pulley real fast for my b18c1 mines all cracked. i was considering buying one off eBay. Has anyone ever tried it? i cannot find a used one anywhere and a new one is pretty expensive. This pulley goes for about 45 bucks with shipping included. This is what the seller states:
* 100% brand new. Never been tried or installed.
* Made of high quality lightweight T-6061 Aluminum.
* Lightweight Crank Pulleys reduce parasitic drag placed on the crankshaft by under driving the accessories such as Alternator, Power Steering and Air Conditioning.
* Belt space for alternator, power steering, and air conditioning.
* Instantly gain 3-5 horsepower and torque.
* Direct replacement in OEM location; might not compatible with stock belts, requires changing belts.
* You will get exactly shown in the picture.
* No instructions included. Professional installation is highly recommended.
heres the link to it.

Don't buy no name crap off ebay that can break and do lot more damage then money saving.
You wld have to atleat take to machine shop and make sure it is balanced before put on car.
Think how much damaged can be caused by cheap part when it fails and blows engine, flys off, or shatters (unlikly but who nows with ebay crap) and hurts some one.

Any lightweight crank pully isnt going to balance your engine as good as an oem one. The oem damper is 2 pieces connected by rubber to dampen engine harmonics(vibrations you cant feel) inside the motor. OEM or fluidampr/ati crank dampers are the only way to go imo.

consider the bearing damage you will do with a "lightweight" pulley, gaining little to no horsepower...search for an OEM man....i wish i had an extra for u.

please do not buy that crank pulley!!!!! i know the price is very enticing but dont be fooled. i bought one just over two years ago and had it put on as soon as i got it by my mechanic so i know it was properly installed, i got the belts i required and everything was great for about 3 or 4 months then all the sudden my whole car would vibrate and shake at idle and then shortly after that it basically just fell off the crank pulley after cracking in several spots around the bolt that holds it on. in the end i spent the $200 or more dollars and bought a factory honda balancer for my civic and havent had a problem since.
