Easiest LS/Vtec Setup
I'm thinking about doing an LS/Vtec setup in my car. Im currently swapping a b18b into an 93 Del Sol Si. I know i have some wiring already for vtec, but im pretty sure i would have to do some additional wiring for a dohc vtec head.
What head would give me the least amount of wiring? Is there an head that would require none? maybe a b16a head?

an LS/vtec is an LS/vtec, nomatter what head you use the wiring will be the same.
using a b16a gen II head would be best cuz of the cams, but thats the only differance.

I dont think it would all be the same. for example: if i were to use a gsr head i would have to wire for secondaries, and likee a knock sensor or something of the sort. i've read up on the subject, but i want some experienced input before i go ripping my new motor apart

well, you said 93 so i figure you are running obd1 correct??? so no knock sensor would be needed to be wired, regardless if the head has it or not, so that doesnt matter.
and as for wiring the secondary runners, thats the intake manifold, not the head. you where asking about the head, not intake manifold. easiest thing to do there is run any other B series vtec intake manifold except that one.

chip your ecu, throw the bitch in and let it rip. it's mostly plug n play. you have to wire in vtec (unless it has it already) even if it doesn't have it that's only a matter of running what 3 wires?

Not if you use a '94-'95 head (OBD-I GSR)... but yes, you'd have to run the two wires for the butterflies, whooty-damn-do! If you can put on a LS/Vtec head, you can run wires.
ECU mods for using a P72 or P28 would surfice and all parts can be found at Moates.net
I just chipped my first P28 ecu with the Moates kit, and you'd have to be a complete idiot to screw it up (or have no experience or thought about how/why a solder station works). Good luck pal, let us know if you need anything!

Re: (SJcivic)
yeah i guess. wiring isnt that bad. I do a lot of compter stuff, so i guess this wont be that much different. i just get a little weary about things i've never done.
ill be sure to post pics. I'm swapping the ls motor this coming up weekend. It'll be my first swap, so it should be interesting. I might be getting an insane deal on a b16a2 head from a friend, thats why i asked this question.
