E-Brake light stays on, need help, checked basics already.
Hey, first off, I already searched and checked everything I could. Brake fluid is fine, and the cable is tightened. The switch looks fine to me, and no water or liquids have gotten down there. The light is on all the time, but a little dimmer than normal. When I pull the e-brake, it lights up just the tiniest bit more, just enough to notice. The only thing I can think of is that my rear brakes are going...which I hope is not the case as I'm just about to sell the car. Btw, it's a 98 CX, although I doubt it matters. Thanks.

When I pull the plug off the switch the light stays on, in the dimmer position. I don't know what that means. Thanks again.

uh no if your ebrake light stays on that means your low on brake fluid. check the fluid level.

Read my post again, I already did, it's right between max and min, I also just did my brakes 2,000 miles ago. No leaks were found at that time either.

unplug the switch at your mastercylinder cap. the level sensor may also be stuck. other than that, im lost without a wiring diagram.

Ok, so by that schematic, does it mean that a fuse is tied into the parking brake switch, and if it were to blow/fall out/etc, could it cause the light to stay on like I described? Thanks a lot for the help.
Also...I can't see how I can undo the switch on the MC cap, as the wires go into the cap itself, and I don't want to mess something up trying to disassemble it. The little white circular slide moves up and down if that means anything.

This is so wierd...I checked the wires, not pinched anywhere. I truly hope it's not my front pads, seeing how I changed them 2,000 miles ago. I drive my car hard sometimes...But damn, not that hard.
Any other ideas guys? Thanks once again.
Edit: Just checked front pads, definitely have more than enough life left in them. Any easy way to check the rear brake shoes(I doubt it'd be those either, as my car only has 46,000 miles on it)?
