Default e brake

i tighten my e brake but still its not locking the rear wheels could there be air in my lines.please help i have a 99 si

theres deffinetly not air in the lines.

jack the car up and take the wheel off, have somebody pull the ebreak up, while you whatch the caliper, does that spring thing move?

Most of these people here are joking around. The parking/emergency brake is operated by a cable. So even if you did have air in your brake lines it would not matter because the cable is used to engage the parking brake.

Do what the other poster suggested and remove a rear wheel and have somebody else pull the parking brake and see if the cable is moving the spring on the brake. Then do the same thing on the other rear wheel.

I forgot to add, if the spring on the brake does not move when the parking brake lever is pulled, then you need to replace the parking brake cable.

jack your car up take the brake rotor off and at the top of the hub there should be something known as a star cylinder which probably needs to be adjusted to the point were you can barely slip the rotor over it!
