Default DYNOED my B18B.. wow I think it's D18!

well I knew my car was slow, cause my buddy's JDM D15B Vtec pulls on me, and he's in a coupe and I'm in my hatch.

anyways, I can't scan my sheet at work, I'll do it at home.

but I got a Whooping 106 WHP and 105 WTQ.

the guy that dynoed my car felt so bad for me that did he did a bit of trouble shooting for me for free.

he changed my spark plugs, played with my timing, checked it with a timing light. he got it down to 103 and up to 109 and my engine was pinging so I filled up with 94octane and now it's fine.

he also did a compression test. 1 through 4 are at 200.

head was rebuilt with 8 new valves and 3angle valve job this summer when I put her in my bay.

so next step, he wants to add a fuel pressure gauge to see where I 'm at.

my hatch is stock. stock fuel pump, never changed the fuel filter. stock injectors. stock muffler

I know I have lots of **** to change, but I just wanted to know what's up.
I was at the dyno cause my buddy was getting his teg tuned. his B18B made 121WHP then up to 131 tuned.. NA, then up to 178WHP @ 7 psi.

this was on a mustang dyno

I'd say it's a fuel issue.

Yup. Something's wrong and you're pinging and making no power to speak of once the demand for fuel is highest. Check your pump and injectors and - more easilly - just change your fuel filter.

I am not really familier with the layout of a mustang dyno's computer so if I am wrong please correct me but with a Dyno Dynamics if you dont set the graphs up appropriatly (ie. you dont set the graph up for a 200hp table with a 500hp car, because the numbers will be off the chart) so maybe you when you read it, they hadnt adjusted the comp to read your a/f yet. 7.0:1 is super rich so.....
hope this makes sense.

Be very Carful. 7:1 AF can wash your rings outs I'd say dont drive it until you fix this.

just for reference My buddys car made 117WHP in Calgary(3500 ft above). B20 (Low CR) with bolt ons on a mustang dyno. So you are off. Good luck.

OK ,I talked to the guy, and he said that it reads 7 in red by default if the thing isn't hooked up. and it wasn't

so I'm not getting 7:1
I don't even think my car could run with that

ok, I changed my fuel filter.
I though it was a bit more peppy at low RPM, but it might of been all in my head

I went on the high way to test my high end, and it proved me that this is not the problem.

so next I'm thinking clogged cat. and it might be killing me top end

any ideas to try befor I go ahead and spend 700$ on a straight thru cat and apeix world sports exhaust?

When you say stock fuel pump, do you mean stock Civic fuel pump, or stock Integra fuel pump? I was under the impression that they're different, so that MIGHT be part of the problem. Also, 198 mile for a full tank is less than 20mpg, and that is just plain awful. I'd say dig deeper into the fuel issue, really seems like that's where the issue is.

And last, $700 for a cat and WS? You're shopping at the wrong store, friend. Both of those can be had for much cheaper.

just a simple Q have you checked your cat? lately? sometimes it gets clogged unless its already off. make sure you guys check timing again, make sure he grounds the ecu before he does check timing, he could of set the timing off.

Its not your fuel pump because the stock civic fuel pump is fine for a stock swap.

Yeah a civic fuel pump is fine for just a stock b series engine. I know tons of people that still run on the stock pump with there swaps.

well this is in Canadian funds mind you.

and thanks for all the replies, but you guys still think it might just be a clogged cat???

and yes I still have the stock civic fuel pump, but it flows enough.
and I'm using the stock B18B ECU.
I have no codes

was OBD2, but the shop converted it to ODB1 (when they rebuilt the head)

the dyno is'nt wrong, casue my buddy in a coupe with a D15b pulls on me.

and the timming belt is new and put on corectly. we've checked it.

and I don't think they swapped the injectors, i'm about 80% sure tht I still have my stock ones.

Might need a good tune up on everything. No way a d15 should pull on you.Regardless if its JDM.
