Default DX Transmission on a B16A motor. Is it Possible?

Pretty soon I am swapping a B16A2 into my EJ6 Hatchback, I wan't to know if it is actually possible to use the DX transmission. I read a couple things saying no, and some saying yes but an output or input shaft has to be made thicker or thinner. I just want some clarification, since I like the feel of the DX tranny and before I go out and spend another 3 or 400 on the LSD for this motor.

Not without an adapter plate, I haven't seen them for sale anywhere tho so it wouldn't be "easy". just find a b-series trans it will be cheaper, but if it interests you Bisimoto made them.

No.

No.

No.

If you like the "feel" of the DX transmission (translation: slow), get an LS transmission.

Wrong, look up b to d plate by bisimoto can be done just not cheaply. as you said an ls will give OP a longer FD without going aftermarket. http://bisimoto.com/store/index.php?...dex&cPath=5_51

The link you provided is for H/F series engines. The B2D plate does exist but I'm not entirely sure it's produced by bisi. I'll see if I can find the link.

I would advise the OP though. The feel of the DX transmission feels that way because it was designed around a DX engine. For a "similar" feel an LS transmission would be a better choice as already suggested. Be advised though that neither are meant for a stock B16 so you can expect the acceleration would be far from ideal. I've seen someone using that combo and it sounded like each shift would drop out of VTEC when he got on it.

You should take another look at that link you posted before saying "wrong". That doesn't adapt a D to a B, or a B to a D...it adapts either a B or a D to an H or F. Bisi evidently thought about doing it back in 2006, but there is no reference to any kind of D2B from him, or any other manufacturer. Some crazy bastard here pulled it off, and mentioned Speed Factory making an adapter setup for a B series transmission on a D series block, but there's no confirmation from the company, no price tag, and not even so much as a whisper from SF that they were doing it. Their website also doesn't list it.

Cliffs: Is it possible? Sure, but this fits quite nicely in the category of "If you have to ask, you can't do it."

Don't worth the time and money!!!

Hell bought a Type R tranny with that money, or whatever B series tranny and keep the rest of the money for future mods.

My opinion.

I'm not saying buy it. But there it is. The thread topic was asking if it is possible not if it is worth it. Everyone has different needs and circumstances. With that said, for the OP it is highly beneficial to just find an LS transmission if you absolutely must have the long gearing but I'd personally recommend sticking with the correct transmission in your case.

Or...

The OP can do like the thread that "NotARacist" linked and just make the two transmissions fit together. I'd love to see that haha

I didnt know it was possible to do D2B, but even though it is possible, you'd have to be half-retarded to spend $1300 to convert to a worse transmission. Just get a GSR/B16/ITR tranny for $800 and move on with your day.

Just going to go with the LSD tranny, the S4C I believe. Will confirm that first.
