Default DX tranny - EX Motor?.....Timing Problem hlp needed also

Whats up, I started a thread about a 92 Civic hatch that I looked at and blah blah blah...

The kid who owns it told me that theres a 93 DX motor in it and after a month or two of sitting, he tried to start it. The car started and ran but he thinks he skipped a tooth on the timing belt or something I'm not totally sure...He told me that there was smoke coming out of the intake but he doesn't think he bent any valves....Has anyone had any problems like this? Im going to look at the car again this weekend and I would like to know if this is an easy fix or if I need to bring it to a shop...

Question Number 2 - - --------------------------------------------

Its a 92 Si chassis with a 93 DX motor...I was wondering if I found like a 96 - 99 Sohc VTEC motor, will the 93 DX tranny bolt up to the sohc vtec motor??

Thanks for all your help...

yes the tranny will fit, I just helped install a 97 D16Y8 into a 95 DX, still using the 95 DX tranny.
