It doesn't matter as long as the holes in the back are plugged up, ie: IACV is bolted on if it's a manual manifold

Actually it does matter, the manual Y8's use a 2 wire IACV, Automatic Y8's and all Y7's use a 3 wire IACV. Now whether or not you can just swap the IACV from the old Y7 manifold onto the Y8 i don't know.

Correct again
This kid knows his sh*t, i would seriously take his advice.
If i had a nickel for every time i had to correct or tell someone of the 2 to 3 wire IACv issues with 96-00 manifolds, i could have a full type R swap right now.
And yes, you can swap IACv from both manifolds, but its pointless because 99% of the time when you get an auto EX manifold, it will come complete with that on the throttle body, cause NOONE wants a 3-wire IACv.
correct

Nah, I don't know much about the wiring but I've seen it done with a manual quite a few times - just have to weld up the holes.

While i suppose you could weld up the holes on the back of a manual Y8 manifold, why bother? he doesn't have a manifold, so it would be a lot easier to just get the one that requires no modifications. On top of that we don't know if he can weld, and weld aluminum at that. Oh, thanks 97Ej6mike

Like a said before it doesn't matter want manifold he gets because the Y7 throttle body will bolt to either one. Soooo if you actually read my first post and understand it....well yeah
