some people bolt the harness onto the floor in the back of the seat. and other people bolt the harness in the back seat where the buckle is. hope it makes sence

yeah, i have a eg hatch and i bolted mine onto the back seat buckle. and same here..im not carrying more than one passenger. and if there is more than one person in your car, tell them not to yank on the harness. it'll obviously pull your shoulder back. lol

its not safe. if your car would roll in an accident, you would be crushed. harnesses hold you in an upright position. the stock belts allow you to lean forward. if you have a cage or roll bar, you would be ok.

it also seems like it would be a bitch. what if you drop something in the car or want to change a CD? harnesses would hold you down. the stock belts will work just fine, just won't look quite as badass

oh... and there have been MUCH dumber questions.

This is a quite arguable point. Several racing professionals and instructors have said that the whole "getting crushed in a rollover" is largely overhyped myth. IMO, while its not necessarily safe, a harness bar is fine for autocrossing or spirited driving, though you may want to keep your stock belts in for daily driving. Now if you run HPDE's and other higher speed track events, a roll bar or cage is completely necessary.

Or, if you don't want to pay $300+ for basically a painted metal bar, you could buy one of these.

This is not safe for the track nor the street.

Yep, instant spine compression in an accident. Get a harness bar to tie them to or don't get a harness.
