how do i know if my fuel pump is junk....

here is my problem...

after letting my car sit all night i'll go out *early*...and start her up...come out 10 mins later and she's dead...wtf???
so i start it up again and it'll run fine...but like 3 or 4 mins later it'll start to die..go up in R's then down 3 or 4 times.....then die...
once the car is warmed up it could idle for forever...
when i'm going down the road and i push in the clutch to stop and i'm rolling the car sits at 1,500 rpm..but when i get to a complete stop it goes back down to 800...weird...

also it sounds like the fuel pump isn't sucking up all the gas it could..when my tank is full it sounds like its taking a full drink when i turn the key to the ACC postiion..but when i get down a half tank..it sounds like its sipping the gas..still all these problems occur no matter where the fuel gauge is...

i bought this car as a rolling chassis...and the guy i bought it of was like..dude this car was so fast it was my buddy's he sunk a supposive 30G's in the motor alone.. umm...no...your buddy didn't....anyways...let me know...it might even be my ECU...here's my set-up

i replaced the fuel filter...reset the ECU new main relay..
by the way i have CEL 43...fuel system..error..

same thing my car does, only mine doesnt die, i have to turn the key over to the ignition side and wait for a few seconds then start it when she is cold, i think my fuel pump is a piece, since im using a 1992 stock dx pump on an ls swap lol

Hey hell I just replaced my pump yesterday and it does the same thing. Im sure it has a lot to do with how long you let it warm up.

My problem is with the new pump in place my damn fuel pressure regulator wont adjust lower than 44psi. WTF!!?

Your pump may be going. Hell now that I think about it, the only time I ever hear my pump is just before start up. You did say you can hear yours "sucking" an "sipping" that does not seem like a good thing. Being able to hear it all the time like that.

i am usin a DX pump i think...for my LS swap..

i'll have to search and see if it can handle what i'm dishin her..
