I think you need to remove bolts holding the steering column to the car body/chassis.....

Sorry for the sucky pic, but probably you need to remove part #2.

HTH!

nope i just did this. take the steering wheel off and you see a circular piece that says top on it. rotate that aroung and take out the 3 screws. after that you i believe theres another then you need to unscrew. after that unplug the harness from both sides and it should be able to slide out.

Sounds like a hell of a lot of work for that. When I pulled my steering column out, I just unbolted it with the "U" clamp thing I mentioned above. 2 bolts, much easier. No hassle at all.

two bolts #17 and the bolt #11, make sure to mark the position of the clamp on the rod that goes to the steering rack, otherwise, next time you'll have head acke getting your steering wheel straight, trust me.

There are 4 bolts to drop the steering column down out of the way

by the pic above they would be
two #12
#16
#17

You can take the steering wheel off but I found it easer just un doing the four bolts under the dash.
I think you only have to take out #11 if you want to take the column completely out of the car.
