Dropping front subframe instead of pulling engine out?

Dropping front subframe instead of pulling engine out?
I've got a 1995 CDM Civic LX. Components of the timing assembly are leaking, and the dealership mechanic said I'd have to pull the engine out to get at it. My friend suggested that it would be easier just to drop the lower subframe instead, and access it that way. Is this viable?

engine doesnt need to be taken out. Your dealership doesnt know how to change a timing belt with the engine in the car apparently. Go buy a service manual or google some images of the timing belt removal. Youll see exactly what needs to be done. The enginee or subframe does not need to be removed

You may have to remove the engine if you have to drill or tap a hole for a timing component.
The subframe does not need to be removed even if you need to drop the engine. The subframe doesn't go under the engine on your car.
You can easily drop the engine down a bit. I've had to do it to remove a rounded off tensioner bolt.
More details about what you're trying to do would be helpful. Why do you need to remove or drop the engine?

The reason he's not coming back is either because:
We asked follow up questions and he got mad. Then scared. Then depressed. Then beligerent. Then accepting. The 6 stages of being asked a question.
Or because this **** was so simple that right after he posted it...he or some other semi competent mechanical person likely went and looked (using eye organs) at the car.
The latter may have been inspired by our questions as well. We basically saved this dude's life.
Happens a bunch. Hero-tech
