Driving from Illinois to Alaska...
Hi.
I plan to go to alaska in this summer by my civic which is 135k on it.
It is about 3700 miles to oneway at the google map. I have no idea about How I prepare to the trip. Also I am not sure does the car make it or not?
Can I get some advises?
Thanks.

just do a full tune and get it completely checked out by a shop to make sure you are not going to have any problems and carry fluids with you in case you spring a leak somewhere

change oil, tires rotated, balanced, filled, make sure all maintenance is done. if you've never doen it change your timing belt and water pump, maybe run some sea foam through the injectors, gas tank, and crank case. make sure you follow the procedure for the sea foam though.

Re: Driving from Illinois to Alaska...
i just drove a 97 d16y8 with 150k from Chicago to Guatemala. Before i left did a full tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, new fuel pump, and changed all fluids) Also in the summer did the timing belt & water pump. I had no issues at all, i brought tools, a few quarters of oil and anti-freeze.

I think I have done with seafoam, fluids, brakes, and some sensors. But I haven't change the timing belt. Is it hard to replace the timing belt with water pump?
What do I need to buy other than a belt and water pump? Does the job need any sepecial tools?
