I had the same problem with my car, but only while driving down a large hill. I would coast down the hill and when I got back on the gas at the bottom the car would sputter until I backed off.

The only response I got was to check the fuel filter. which I haven't done yet http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

But it hasn't happened since I posted the problem. So maybe now yours will go away https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

My car does that from time to time too (del sol w/h22). I haven't found the problem yet either. All I know is that it only happens to me when the engine is cold. I think it's fuel related too.

gftgrill 03-29-2005 09:45 AM

I've had something similar happen. it turned out to be the plugs and wires. they were just old and worn out. could be fuel filter if it's old and hasn't been changed in awhile.

and to IHateJDM
you probably shouldn't be driving your car that fast when the engine is cold. that's probably your problem

for me it happens at about 2k rpm's in any gear, not at 60 like the original poster. and on my car the plugs, wires, distributor, cap, rotor are all new.

I had the same thing happen on my 93 cx hatch. I think it's the o2 but I'll change wires anyway and tell you guys if it works.

Re: (GSX TO CX)

For everyone else having this problem, is it happening before or after your motor hits operating temp? If it's before, they you can rule out the o2.

if its only at 2000rpm replace your TPS (throttle position sensor)

Yeah, I got the same thing going on too. So prolly my TPS. I think I will look into getting it changed. It's brutal sometimes it sputters and such, like when your in a parking lot and people think you can't drive stick https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif . It makes you look like an idiot. If I down shift and it bucks and jerks is this the TPS too. I'd figure it would be.

Always, ALWAYS let your car heat up before you just take it out for a spin. Even if you don't have the time, keep it under 2k till it starts to move the temp gauge. No sense in screwing things up by slamming it at 50 mph when its ice cold.

That's just common sense, but I guess for some people it's not https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif . Good advice though.

ok well now that solves his problem ... im still wondering about mine anyone got ne ideas

Re: (LSegHatchy)

Got a little distracted. You might wanna check your TPS too. I don't know. Maybe fuel related or throttle?

IHateJDM 04-04-2005 07:28 AM

Re: (95dxhatch)

TPS is new. I always baby my car when it's cold too. It's not a big problem, happens most often when it's cold outside. Maybe I'll just sell the damn thing before winter next year, and I'll be ok.
