Driveshaft problems??
I bought my 95 Civic DX a few months ago and since I bought it I have noticed a slight bumping sound in the front left when driving.. It is particularly noticable at 40mph in 4th (around 2000rpm). The sound does get faster with speed...
So when I installed a new exhaust yesterday I took a look at the driveshafts and I noticed that there is a small gap between the driveshaft and the transmission (about 2-3mm) I can see the shiny metal of the driveshaft going into the transmission. The CV is not butted up against the transmission cleanly. The right side looks ok.
Could this cause the sound I am hearing? Do I need to fix this soon or is it nothing?
The CV's sound good (no clicking) and the boots all look great... The tie-rod ends and ball joints also look ok.
Any thoughts??

Re: Driveshaft problems?? (JDM_Ej)
I think you may be right.... the sound is not very loud and it does not go away in neutral (coasting). The driveshaft itself is a little brown (could be from the mega rain hawaii just got) but the boots are new. So it may just be an old messed up CV...
Anyone have any experience changing driveshafts without a lift? It seems like a killer job to do with jackstands...
How much should it cost to pay a mechanic to replace the driveshafts if I supply the new ones??
