Default Driverside wheel rattle.

Ok, so this is my first question to the boards so I'll give you some info. And I'm a big fan of Searching but didn't find any useful info.

I have 1995 Civic DX hatch with Omni power sport coilovers, Rota Circuit 8's with 205/50/15 Azenis.

The Problem:
When I go over small road bumps, dips, entrances to parking lots, small things like that my Driver side Front wheel rattles. It sounds similar to clicking heard when CV joints go out, but not as severe. Also, when parked, if I pound on my tire with my fist, I hear a distinct metal on metal 'ting' where I don't on the passenger side. I've taken my wheel off and spent about 45 minutes with my head under there, but can't find anything that is loose or even capable of making that noise.

Any suggestions?

Check and make sure your lug nuts are tight. Only other thing I can think of is wheel bearings. You can jack your car up and grap the 9 and 3 o'clock positions on the tire and try going left to right checking for any excessive movement. I believe if your wheel bearings are bad you will get some.

If a wheel bearing goes bad it should make noise when you turn and not just when you go over bumps...

check the upper ball joint. grab the top of the wheel pull and push out on it see if there is any movement in the ball joint (there should be no movement)jack the car up and put it on stands. Repeat the same test. if any play is there you will need to replace the ball joint ( the bad news you have to replace the upper control arm)

Wheel bearing sounds like a possibility. Also I forgot to mention, I also have Omni power upper control arms and I'm not saying that they're perfect or the best or anything, but they're only a year old. Could it be the lower ball joint that is causing the issue? Maybe that's why it doesn't rattle when I go around turns?

Slamaccord, it's definately a rattle. The road leading to my house is full of holes and fixes so it's really rough. When I go on that road, it's a constant rattle.

When I get home tonite, I'll pull the wheel off and try the 9-3 thing and we'll see what it looks/sounds like. Let's say it is a wheel bearing, how much are parts to fix it do you think? I'll be doing it all myself so installation should be fun, but you gotta learn somehow right?

Anway, thanks for the responses/ideas and I'll be sure to let you know what is going on.
