drilling holes and rust

when you drill a hole or use a self tapping screw to secure something to the shock tower side, do the holes that are made rust out? or do the screws themselves rust? i kno they might stick out into the wheel well area. maybe they only rust if you remove the screw and its exposed?

Re: drilling holes and rust (deviant1)

If you drill your hole with stainless or coated screws, they will not rust. However, because the metal you are drilling into is not stainless or coated, it will begin to rust. To minimize the amount that it rusts, try drilling your hole, backing the screw out, use some enamel or fingernail polish to paint the inside of the hole, then put the screw back in. If you do it while the paint is still wet, you will get better coverage inside. When the paint dries, and you attempt to put the screw back in, the threads will scrape the paint right off.

Just a little trick.
