97 and 99 civic coupe rear bumper differences AFTER the rear lip.
ok, so I was planning on getting a rear bumper off of a 99 - 2000 civic coupe to install onto my 97 civic coupe. ( i like the 1999 - 2000 style) The thing is i know they're only slightly different. and i am planning on installing a rear lip on it anyways.. so would it be worth it to get a 99 rear bumper and install a lip on it? or should i just stick with the original rear bumper i have right now and install a lip on that. would you be able to tell the difference from the rear between a 97 civic with a rear lip and a 99 civic with a rear lip? thanks. your responses are very important to me.

Why get a new rear bumper, unless something is wrong with yours?
There is a very slight difference, the real difference is the front ends.
I would just keep your bumper and get the lip, plus your exhaust might not fit right with the 99 bumper.

+1 with Motegicivic. the only difference between the 2 bumpers is that the 99-00 bumper has a straiter edge by the wheel wells were the 96-98 has a very defined bump on the lower half and thats it. both are interchangeable with each other with no problems. But like motegi said just stick with what you have unless you just have to have the other bumper.
