Drama: Lowering won't happen.... :(
Well, I started tonight on the lowering of my car (93 Civic Hatchback) Was going to install KYB AGX's and H&R Race Springs, however upon trying to take off the shock from the LCA, I broke the bolt, my heart sinks. The bushing is spent, and I think I need a whole new LCA. So now I need a new one, was wondering if anyone has one for sale. and also, I was wondering if this happened to anyone else. I tried Liquid Wrench and everything, nothing would make it budge... until it broke. Can anyone else give me tips for next weekend so I don't have to break the other one... Thanks a bunch.

did u use a wrench or an air ratchet? because i've heard their are certain bolts on your suspension that would be recommended that you use an air ratchet

I can, but we already messed up the bushing, it's shot. and I don't have a press at my house... so I need the whole new get-up and go.

for the suspension bolts, you dont want to use air tools. because the constant breaking force is what will cause it to snap. I had a similar problem. I used a breaker bar and slid a bar over the handle. I gently applied steady even force and was able to remove all of the rusted bolts without breaking them. Its the initial "jerk" force that will snap it

I don't understand why people give up so quickly on removing bushings.
If you take a drill and drill the screw out, you'll be able take stuff apart.
If you destroy the bushing in the process, fine. put some polyurethane bushings in, and you're money.
Those bushings do not need a press to remove. I removed them at home using a drill, a jigsaw, and 4 lbs hammer. Took me like 30 mins.
People give up too easily.
Drill the screw out, and keep going. It's what you have to go through working on a 12 year old car.
We had stripped screw when we tried to remove the pressure plate from the flywheel. Started drilling, broke the drill bit inside the screw. That's called drama.

Happened to me... twice! Dammit!
Yeah, just drill the bolt out, or saw off the threaded side of the shock (since you're replacing it anyway). You just saw the side that has the welded nut to the fork of the shock. Burn the bushings off and get some polyurethane. The bolt is like $8.

I guess I got lucky, when I removed the LCA bolts from my 94 GS-R last February, I used lots of PB Blaster and an electric impact wrench and the bolts came right out. The electric impact is slow, maybe 1 impact per second, but it helped get the bolts out w/o a hitch.

Thanks all who gave ideas, I would do ES Bushings however, the purchase of the shocks and springs took me down too close to my limit. I don't have a job because I'm a freshman in college and I don't want to go broke! So Breaker bar for the other LCA? also I planned on giving it a nice Liquid Wrench bath. Thanks for all the idea's fellas!

same thing happened to me bud.... i think you are talking about the bolt that hold the shock assembly to the control arm. well i didnt break mine BUT i would love too! the son of snitch wont budge and i used some heavy duty tools to get it loose and no dice.
so i decided that i will be better off buying new control arms and new bolts and just throwing away the whole ordeal. my car is a 93 hatchback too. coincidence

anti seize let it sit for like 5 mins.
hit the lca's hard a few times.
take the breaker bar, and bust it loose.
done it like 20 times. works everytime.
