How To: Ep3 seats into EK coupe
I have seen so many posts about this topic in the past few months and haven't seen any How to's on it yet. First of all let me start off by saying that NO, the seats do not directly bolt in, the ep3 rails are about an inch shorter and thinner than your ek ones. There are only 2 options to get this done:
1. line up one of the holes on the body and the ep3 rail. bolt them together proceed to drill 3 new holes into the bodywhere the remaing holes of the ep3 seats line up. your done. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS. your seats will not sit right and will be much higher than the old ones.
2. THIS IS WHAT I DID. Find a good welder through friends or whomever. It will cost around 150 to get both seats taken care of unless you had a hook up and got it for less ($75- thanks Rich). They'll take the measurements of the holes in the body and then the rails. They lengthen the rails in width and length to the correct measurment and your seats should bolt in without a hitch. they will sit perfectly and only a tad higher than your stock seats. Also unless you're going to be using a 4 or 5 point racing harness you must replace the ep3 buckles with the EK ones. anyways hoped you liked and enjoy the pics....
as you can see there is more than enough head room

Looks good...great reccomendation, I shudder to think of what could possibly happen in an accident with hacked up rails, or half-assed installed seats.

yes, its an option the dealer gives you when buying a new si or the seats alone. they are not hooked up in my car though, but will be in the far future when i do my K series swap

I used the stock ep3 rails that were cut and rewelded to match up with the EK holes in the frame. I dont have the exact measurements on them but from what i can remember the ep3 rails were about an inch shorter both in length and width than the stock EK seats. Will post some more pictures up that show exactly what was welded.

i was thinking about going that route and saw your thread along with a few others. However, I wanted to make sure that the everything that was done right and fit up as perfectly as possible because god forbid you get in an accident and your diy rails bust and you as your seat are headed through that steering wheel/ windshield.
Your particular custom job is prob very safe, but i didnt want to take the chance of being scraped off the highway, therefore i spent the extra money to get it professionally welded. It was worth it to me.

Interesting thing is, that this is true for the EDM CTR seats ... the rails are closer together and you have to take the EK feet off and weld them to the EP rails to get the right height but also "versetzt" to get the right width.
The EK belts can be used with the EP buckels. Strange isn't it?

Re: How To: Ep3 seats into EK coupe (chartinael)
i had to swap the EK buckles on my seats because the ek belt were too big to fit the ep3 buckles
