Default This dosen't look good...

I also posted this in the Tech section, so I apologize if some are reading this twice, but I'm really concerned with this issue.
This morning upon starting my 99 EJ8 (D16Y8), she sputtered and shook and sent out a puff of white smoke out the exhaust, but after a few seconds all was fine. Or so I thought...Now this evening after work, I started her up and the same thing happens, but with the addition of the CEL. All seemed fine, so i drove home carefully, and when I jumped the terminal I got a code 71, 72, 73. Misfires in cylinders 1, 2 & 3. Now that I have this information, I start checking my spark plugs to see if there was any indication of misfire...ummmmm yeah...check this out...

As you can see, I've blown off the top portion of the plugs. It's amazing I made it home like this, and it's a 30 mile drive to and from work. So my question is...
What caused this? And will the electrode pieces that blew off destroy my engine? Can I just buy new plugs and reset my ecu, and will all be good? Thanks in advance for the help.

wow...looks like some super leaned out plugs. Check your CEL, see what it says.

well... d16y8... but... damn.... thats crazy.... and he said the cel were the mis fire codes.... are those plugs in order... cause if you got a misfire with two really bad plugs why did you get a miss fire with one of the "ok" ones... my guess is they are all now fouled out and yes... try replacing the plugs and reseting the ECU... then if not... well with the white smoke i would almost be inclined to say you fried some rings....

Yeah, all that white coating definitely looks like a lean runner.

More info

Only mods are an AEM CAI, and Apex-1 N1 exhaust. I've advanced the timing a bit, and never run less than 91 octane. But, um... I do drive it hard. Would a larger fuel pump help on the lean condition? What would you in honda land recomend?

Bosch 4 suck get rid of them get NGKs coppers or platinums. Seems to me like you got a hell of detonation problem. Did you mess with the timing at all?

EDIT: retard the timing it's too advanced, also I would check the cylinders for the chunks of those spark plugs if there is anything left. Don't know how to pull that out though.

yea... with a stock set up i honestly wouldn't bother advancing the timing at all.... at least dont do it unless you know what your doing and have acess to some dyno time...

well i noticed those plugs that were in there were also bosh they have a big problem with there plugs in other cars besides the one that came wit them stock
audi,vw,bmw, mercedes the problem being is they burn redicoulsy hot and after a while with combustion chamer temps being to high they crack and eventaully fall apart just like your car did they best thing to do is run a stock plug or something similar denso and ngk give all the spark you would ever need I have seen the best results with iridium ngk plugs you might wanna take the bosh plugs back and try a set of those as for the porcelin try to blow it out by cranking it over with the plugs out because if it doesn't come it will chip your valve or imbead its self into the piston if you have any more question feel free to pm me or im me
