Door Won't Open!

Door Won't Open!
The driver's side door won't open on my GF's 98 Civic DX. Since the door won't open, I can't take the door panel off to see why the door won't open. I can look down through the top molding and see the rods moving when I operate the handle, everything is attached and working properly from what I can see... Any ideas before I break down and take it to the shop?? Sorry if this has been discussed before, I tried search but couldn't find anything.

have you tried getting in through the passenger side!?? Most cars have more than one door 
locksmith?? they are pretty expensive though.
