Default Door Panels - Vinyl Coating spray

Just did my door panels. I wasnt planning on doing this, but i said why not since I'm tossing them anyways. So I bought some of that Vinyl and Fabric Paint and tried it out. SO far, it looks like black vinyl, doesnt crack or rub off. wiped it down with some armor all and it actually looks nice. Now I need to get new handles and tweeter covers.

Thanks, slowly but surely its coming along. Does anyone know of a vinyl dye that i can apply to the headliner? I'd rather not take it out, it would be nice to find a dye that i could apply while in the car. If not I'll have to remove it and use the spray.

to do the headliner properly you must take it out, its easy. You dont want that dye drifting onto other things in the car and spraying a can upwards doesnt usually work too well

Thats why i was looking for a dye that i could apply with a sponge or cloth. there wouldnt be much drifting, and such. From a first glance at removing the headliner, it appeared to be a pain in the ****. removing door molding and such. I dunno, Cant be as difficult as changing out the dash was.

There's a fabric spray that duplicolor makes that works really well on seats/fabric.

I've seen a few examples myself and they look great.

What did you use for the panels? i want to do this myself.

yah, not sure if its a paint or dye? The bottle says COATING. I'm sure its a paint of sorts. Yah, that stuff from autozone LOL. I was hesitent to try it, but i gave it a shot and if anything its a temporary fix untill i replace the door panels. After work today I'm going to finish up the drivers side, front pillars and maybe pull out the rear dash if I have enough left over.

Thats why I'm going 2-tone on the interior. Grey and black. I have a few parts that i managed to salvage from the paint suicide, they are grey. I'm going for grey tweeter, door handles. Grey Steering wheel bezel, grey cluster bezel. Grey ashtray. Seat are going to be reupholstered in black fabric with greay stitching, unless I just spend the same amount on the Black and grey neoprene custom fit seat covers. (neoprene feels so nice).

carpet, black, grey floor mats.

It looks nice in my head...still trying to decide if i want the inner part of the door panels grey....I'm waiting till i get everything in there, it might be overkill if i do that piece.

95ProjectEJ1.......they make a carbon fiber insert for the dashboard to get rid of the grey piece.

EGhatchR...your a newb for a reason....there is this little button in the right hand corner called the SEARCH button, try it, don't be afraid, it works.

There have even been threads this weekend on HT on how to swap tegra dash for civic.

BTW.....I'm glad I saw this post before I ever thought of painting/dying the door panels. IMHO it looks like ***. Glad I just bought a black interior!!

Wow, that looks horrible. You seemed to have cleaned it up quite nicely. Great job. I'm currently piecing together my civic and might have to look into this stuff.
