dont know what way to go
hiya im a new member from texas i had a few questions on what should i do when i get back from ft.benning for ait. i am getting $20,000 after i get back and i had an ej1 that i sold and miss it dearly now when i get back im thinking about going with an eg hatch with an h22a swap i was wanting some input on this topic because i am putting well over $13,000 under the hood and need to know if this would be a good invesment (i already know it would be but is there another direction i could go with the same amount of money input that i would be able to do circut in? i mean i would love having an h22 in but is that a good motor for circut)(i will have full suspenstion done)

well for the circuit, h22 is ****. kiss your handling goodbye. if your getting 20k, and buying a eg, and spending 13k under the hood, do like everyone else said and go K20a.
thats more than enough money for a k series swap.
just the motor will run you between 4-6k if you get the right one. try for the jdm r motor. i think its something like 220hp over that of the rsx-s' 200.
or just same a whole bunch of money and go like gsr or somehthing, b seriers r motors are over rated

and you'll hear bad stuff about all sites. i have a b16, and i bought a totaled car for it. its always a risk.
and you'll get tired of straight lining after awhile. eventually you'll want the thrill of turning, and at least with a gsr your still getting decent power, and handling, instead of it being so one way with the h

go with a sohc vtec!! D16Z6!! lol jk. i think da best for circuit would be a boosted ls/vtec or maybe a b16. H22 will definitely be too heavy for cornering...

Re: dont know what way to go
sry bout the 20k thing kinda tired (waiting for santa) but anyway this is true with the gsr and the whole going straight all the damn time. its just thw whole not anyone in this town has an h series and it would be nice to finally get noticed in this town cause ive done something nobody else has then again i hate how all the kids here have gsr and k20 and b16 turboed and just go down the long stretch i mean i would love to trck it i might just go gsr (little cheaper to) anyone know i good site to go to for the gsr im goin to check it out?!

Re: dont know what way to go
ya i see what your sayin. where im at h series isnt a uncommon swap so it easy for me to say. but i mean if you put in enough work you could get somewhat decent handling, but it would call for alot of additional weight in the rear to evenly distribute your weight, and some pretty good damping. but ya im tired too and cant wait for the morning. hmotors isnt bad, but if you do go gsr, try finding something local where you can pull it yourself. good luck though man

Re: dont know what way to go
it depends if you wanna keep it as a daily driver, if your making a track car, then get a fully built k20 swap and boost it like 30 psi, youll probably have over 500 whp.......if you wnat a daily driver, i'd still get a k20, do a all motor setup.....and at the same time try to keep the gas miealage good...trust me youll be happy and raping everything on the street.
the EG hatch is the perfect civic to do it with, it weighs like nothing lol

Re: dont know what way to go
i am wanting to do daily driver and thank you on the eg comment ive only been a member for like an hour and i got some guy that apparently nobody likes tellin me eg are a peice haha and he said i wasnt smart thx alot for the help keep sendin me info guys really love the feedback on this!
if your doing daily driver, then you should get a k20, slightly built all motor ( just dont get cams, that will literally kill the gas mileage) and you should have a good descent amount of power, maybe even more than you expect.....but anyways def. get a K20, its the best engine out there

Re: dont know what way to go
With a properly researched suspension, you'll have a competitive car, and there are some EG and DC2 cars that have competed effectively in Honda Challenge H1 with H22 motors.
I'd suggest that you think about reading in Road Racing and All Motor Forums for some more information, and waiting until you are sure you know what you are doing before choosing.
An extra advantage of the H22 over the K20 and K24 is that the H22 are really quite cheap in comparison. You can do a lot of building with the money you save.
With an FF race car, there are really just two ways out of a jam. You put your foot down and pull your way out of the jam. Or you lift for a nanosecond to point the nose, and then put your foot down to pull your way out of the jam.
:-)
But the H22 still has life in it.
My own track car is a DC2 ITR w/a K20A(*) out of a DC5 ITR. It was the path of least resistance for me, but I have to tell you that the car was more fun with the B motor in it. :-)
I'd never look down on anybody who wanted an H22 over a K20, however. You just have to do your research carefully.
I came here because of a bunch of reports generated because of bad attitudes and language in this thread. There were no moderators around at the time, so I looked at them.
This does not mean that I'm going to come back here and argue with people who don't know what they're talking about, however, and I'd caution you not to repeat the kinds of attitudes and language that has been evinced so far.
