Done with Silverstar headlamps
I have now gone through 3 sets in 3 years of the regular(4100k) silverstars. The cost is too much for the time you get out of them. To be honest I'm looking for something a bit cooler maybe around 5000k but I don't know if there are stock headlamps that get that cool. Has anyone had any success with other brands of lamps that last a lot longer?

i always wanted to try the silverstars, but they were just too expensive. plus, like you, i hear lots of people complaining about their short life span.
i like the color of the sylvania Cool Blue headlamps, they give off a nice white light for a halogen, and are only $12 or so per bulb.

Re: Done with Silverstar headlamps
I had the same silverstars for 3 months but i stole them from wall mart cause i hate wall mart and they were OK. but the reason why i bet yours keep going out is because your touching them. next time buy a pair of gloves because the oil from our hands is bad for them and will kill their life.
But SCREW silverstars. go to pepboys and pick these up for same price their A LOT bluer and ALOT clearer. i compared one silverstar to one of these and it made the silverstar look yellow lol.
Well i cant find them on the pepboys website cause their site sux *** but go their and they should have them. they say their blue something but their bright *** white with a very light blue tint. their RIGHT below HID kits.

he was comparing the lights that he is talking about, however cannot even locate a retailer(LOL), to HIDs i.e. "theyre just a step down below HIDs in light output", not saying that Pepboys has HIDs. however i did have some HIDs, but i took them out and put my Silverstars back in. havent had one bit of trouble out of mine, maybe im lucky though

Secondly, since you're a thief i'm not going to be nice to you. It's called WalMart, not Wall Mart. They don't sell walls.
You are correct though, do not touch the glass, and the Silverstars should last a long time.
You can't compare halogens to HIDs. They're apples and oranges. Also, there are different intensities of HID, so which are you comparing them to then?

Re: Done with Silverstar headlamps
Thanks guys. No I dont ever touch the glass on any of my lamps so that's not the issue. I'm just done paying the price they want for them and only having them last a year. I have some stock replacements in right now which are God awful but what are you gonna do? May I'll try the silverstar ultras. They may have a better life span. I dunno. I just hate the yellow stockers but they work.

I loved my Silverstars. It was a bummer when they burned out after 2 years though. Isn't there some ebay store that sells them for $20 a pair?

Re: Done with Silverstar headlamps
the reason being why some people dont want to install HIDs, is because the only way to get decent output from them is from a proper retrofit. i've had the plug and play HID kit before, and the light's intensity was nice, but it was also very scattered since it was in a halogen headlamp/reflector. now i'm back to using regular halogen bulbs. plus, with plug and play HID kits, you usually end up blinding the cars in front of you due to the horrible glare.

Don't get those, the light output is absolutely horrible.
First of all, stop stealing you damn scumbag.

I guess "the principle" means nothing to some people.

I know they are f'd up but didn't your parents ever teach you not to steal? It doesn't matter how messed up they are, you're not suppose to steal.

i hate wal mart too, but it must be like a communist cult hypnosis or something because i always find myself there buying loads of crap that i dont need... errr. but they are pretty uber retarded. I say we all start a boycott against wal mart- no buying, NO STEALING, no nothing.

Re: Done with Silverstar headlamps
Well the problem with walmart is that they don't pay their employees enough to be above the poverty line, like someone else said. That's why their prices are so low... they have less operating costs.
Because of the low costs and conveniency, they destroy small businesses. I have witnessed this happen throughout my life in the city I live in. There are now tons of empty buildings in Titusville, where businesses used to be.
anyone interested should check this out: http://wakeupwalmart.com/
anyway, we're kinda like threadjacking so we should stop.
