Default doing a swap i encountered a problem...

i just pulled a dx motor along with the automatic tranny out of my 95 civic. and i am going to convert it to manual sohc vtec d 15b. the manual transmission was already attached to the motor and the two top mounts were still attached. upon dropping the new motor in, the top left mount was short from the holes where it screws in about half an inch. do i need a special adaptor or spacer to make it reach. and the front bracket (which did not come with the motor, i had to use my dx bracket) which attached to the transmission was way short. i think i need a new bracket. i always thought automatic or manual parts such as mounts and brackets were interchangeable. what the **** is going on?

you need the mounts from a manual transmission. They are almost always differnet than auto mounts becuase the auto trannys are shaped dramatically different.

You have 2 options. The bracket on the body of the car is in a different spot on auto and manual. Your first option is to cut off the bracket on the car and weld it in the correct location, or 2 I believe that hasport makes an adapter bracket for it. I would go ahead and get the bracket to keep it simple and to make sure you get it in the right spot, but that is my opinion.

i have been told that the passenger side mount needs to be welded. but how bout the passenger side bracket (the one that bolts on to the tranny? i'm thinking of going to a junkyard and finding that particular bracket. does it matter whether it comes out of a manual ex, dx, or cx? or is the main importance only that it is for manual transmission?

but i have the manual mounts that actually came with the motor and that is a little short (i might need a spacer) the one that is really off is the passenger side front bracket that bolts onto the tranny. it didn't come with this so i tried using my automatic tranny bracket and it didn't work. i'm planning to go to the junkyard and looking for one. as far as the driver's side bracket--it fit perfectly.

the second post should be ok now...but those prices are high..but, they re for the full kit and u dont need the whole thing..seperate pricing for a single mount u need..talk to them, wont hurt

the factory manual mount will not work because the bracket on the car is in a different spot for the automatics, as I stated before. I have done this before, and the only wat to get the motor in there correctly is either going to require some cutting and welding, or the HAsport bracket.
