doing a b18c5 type r swap into 2000dx.... i have a ? bout cat
in a couple months i am plannin on swappin a b18c5 type r engine into my 2000dx... while thinking about this i ran into a snag.... i realized my cat comes directly from the engine.... this means after doing the swap i will have no cat.... my cousin gave me the idea that after doin the swap i can cut a chunk out of my exhaust and install a cat. my question is is this truely logical or no and if not is there anything else i can do????????? any feedback or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.... thanks

it really depends on your states if it really strick or not... i recently did a b-series swap on my 2000 dx, and i used a 99-00 si header and it bolt right up with my stock exhaust...which it kinda suck becuz my motor cant release all the air like it want to going from a 2.5 collector to a 1.75 piping lol

If smog isnt a problem, then forget it. If it is.......then just put one on......very simple.

the 2000 EX uses a cat after the header, and it has a real header. get a high flow cat for a ex maybe, but very high flow, cause you're gonna need a bigger exhaust with this bigger engine. you may need a whole new exhaust. may i reccomend a spoon muffler too?

Using a smaller cat, even if it's a high flow, from the EX may hinder(sp?) his exhaust flow a bit. You could just look inot test pipes and/or high flow cats for the c5.
