Doing a 5 spd trans swap on my auto 96 civic dx, i was told that the manual throttle cable and the manual trans mount are different than auto. Is it true?

im not 100% on the throttle cable but my guess is they are not different,
and waht mount are we talking here?
the rear mount for tranny is different,

Trans mount is different. You can either:
A. Cut a manual mount bracket from a manual car and weld it into your car
B. Cut both a manual and auto mount, and weld them together.

OR

C. Buy a conversion mount for about $130 shipped. (what I did, made life 100% easier)

As for the throttle cable, it will depend on two things, the motor used, and the pedals used.

The part of the pedal where the throttle cable connects is where it gets tricky. The pedals that came out of the EJ were for a sohc, and they were different than the DC pedal that I used for my GSR motor. I'm sure it can fit onto the pedals with modifications, but since the pedals were coming out anyway, I just swapped it.

This doesn't apply to '96 - '00 civics, they don't have a pocket mount welded to the frame rail like the '92 - '95 civics and '94 - '01 Integras. You simply replace the upper transmission bracket with one from any '96 - '00 5 speed civic.

Automatic and manual throttle cables are different in terms of the end at the pedal, this is because the automatic and manual gas pedals are different. Ideally swap out both the gas pedal and throttle cable for manual units, you can though reuse the original automatic pedal if you keep the automatic throttle cable.

is the automatic speed sensor the same? can i use it on the manual trans?

i don't believe so......when i did my mt swap, (gf donated all parts needed) i used her speed sensor. don't forget to get a mt ecu. not much of a difference but it keeps the cel from coming on all the time. my swap cost 10 bucks...just for the oil in the tranny. anyother q's hit me up.

I have no clue what yall are talking about. nothing is different except the ECU and the engine wire harness.

My friends 00 EX had a auto in it and i believe it is the same car as your and we did a 5 spd swap by just removing the old motor/tranny and dropping the new motor/tranny in and changed the engine harness and ecu. you should get by with the same amount of work.

when i did my swap i used the mt speed sensor, mt ecu, and left pedals and cables alone until i swapped the IM then snagged an integra cable, it was shorter and looked better. but everything bolted or clipped right up with no problems. Girlfriend donated all my tranny parts so it only cost me 10 bucks for the oil in the tranny.

yea, the auto and the manual Intake Mani's are a bit different.

sorry about the double post.... comp messed up. yeah the y7 toilet bowl intakes use the iac on the throttle body and the horizontal manis use the iac on the back side. it's actually not all that difficult. it is def well worth it though the tranny swap that is.
