DOHC junkies have finally gotten to me!
Well I have been fighting to be one of the few people rocking the single slammer, but I think I have decided to switch to the other side now. I really think that a DOHC motor will make me happier than messing with the D16. So on to the hard part. Do you think it will be cheaper to buy a motor that is complete with everything I need or should I buy a block and scrap all the rest together? I will be putting this in myself so labor isn't an issue, but reliability is. What would you do?

now this is the kinda thread i'm talkin about unless you are experienced in assembling motors, for reliability issues i'd recommend getting one thats already assembled - plus it won't be much more at all. whats your DOHC of choice?

Re: (B18bEK)
getting the complete swap is much more easier( i think), this is accordint to parts and misc stuff.. if you piece together the swap, you get what you want but you'll miss little stuff here and there. believe me, i've taken so many trips to acura/honda that they know me.

giving up on the D16 huh. Well i think i'm about at that stage also. i'm wanting a b16 just because of the great rod strok ratio which will allow me to rev way higher than my Z6. Plus i always see 300whp coming from all the turbo B series guys on stock rods

Anti-conformity is a good thing in many cases, but sometimes, you've just got to give in. Welcome to the club.

Get the whole swap, you'll save time and energy lookin for the rest of the items. But then again you may save money buy buying everything else separatly, it just takes longer to finish your project.

Re: (B18bEK)
Well I would love to throw a built B18C in there but that ain't gonna happen. I could pony up the cash for a B16 Sir II or for the same price go with a H22. I still have to look into what is going to fit my needs better. I really like the power the H22 has but the B16 might be easier and a little more friendly on the del sol. Plus I have to convince my wife that I should do this.

GOOD LUCK! I'm in the same situation and all I want is a d16z6.

Re: (Daily Driver)
See the thing is I told her I wanted to build the D. Then the D I had in my car fried the number 2 cylinder. So I bought another motor (block and head) and put it in. I kept the old one because I was going to build it. And that way if something happened I would have a back up. Now almost a year later I haven't done crap to the other motor and she wants it gone. I don't blame her. I am kind of tired of looking at it too.

Buy an engine that is complete. I tried to go the cheap route and piece everything together. Believe me it will cost you more in the long run unless you get a super deal on the stuff. It's not the big stuff that adds up it is the mounts, bolts, seals and little **** that really gets you. I still have to buy about $350.00 in little stuff to make my swap complete. Pay for a complete swap and you will be better off. I know for a fact.
