DOH! Rear bumper support for an EM1 Coupe......
People always mentioned to me if i ever wanted to make my car lighter, even if it was just for a day, i could remove the bumper supports/large beams in the front and back of the car that save your frame in the event of the crash. I assumed when people said this that the beams were bolted on...
I just removed the rear bumper, and that thing is welded on?? obviously it's not worth cutting it, but theres no other way that support comes off?
thanks

Dont do it. Well let me rephrase that. If its a daily driver, dont do it. If its a track car then go ahead. But theres 6 bolts (?) holding it up. 2 in the back and 4 in the front (2 on the left side, 2 on the right side). If they welded it, they did that for a reason, so you cant take it off!

gut the whole interior, dash, panels, all audio equipment (ie: speakers, deck, etc..) spare tire, run with no rear bumper to reduce drag, D/C power steering...thats all i can think of for a 1 day run. u dont really wanna get rid of those supports...
