Does year of block really matter?
I just thought of this and I cant come up with a logical answer, does the year of the block really matter? Like if you have a 99 Si, and you throw a rod, can you buy the 88-91 B16A block and mate it with the 99-00 Si head? What conversions, wiring problems would you run into doing this?

If I blow my 97 B16A, I can replace it with the block from a 88-91 B16A and all I have to do is swap over my crank angle sensor?

In case that needs confirmation,
A b16a's a b16a's a b16a.
Although there are some slight revisions over the years...
Obviously the newer the better...
Bolt up your bits n pieces n start revving

Your shitting right?
I've been trying to get this response for the past 6 months. You guys think people are crazy when they want to take a super cheap B16A Gen1 and swap it over to make it wire up as a B16A Gen2.
Then now you say its a piece of cake and that's all that needs to be done.
I might not be selling mine after all, since its just chilling in the garage.

Everything bolts up the same on these things. I've seen plent of guys with Sis **** up their motors and buy 1st gen b16a's to replace them. Also seen a lot of guys buy these and rebuild then swap manifolds and such and have a fully rebuilt motor with no down time and little extra cost.

you cant just swap over the CFK sensor, you need to swap over the oil pump too.

Great, thats the answer I wanted to hear. Looks like I will be ordering a spare B16A in a few days just in case mine blows.
