Does a type R throttle body work with a B16?
Hey guys,
I am putting a type R intake manifold on my B16 del sol, and I know that bolts up the the head, but I also got the throttle body that matches it, and I am curious if that will work also. The thing that concerns me is that the stock B16 one seems to have a fast idle valve on the bottle side of the throttle body and the type R one either has it built into it or does not feature one it looks like. If anyone has any insight into this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help and if you have a post you need help on give me a link and I will try to help if I know about your topic. Thanks!

For anyone who is curious, it looks like it will work fine, just that you have to use all the type R coolant hoses and the IAC valve. I looked into it for a bit myself since I have all the components and the car to look at next to it.

Thanks, kinda worried that there is no fast idle valve involved now, but if the R idles fine without one with this manifold/throttle body, I don't see why a B16 would not.

I am putting that stuff on because I am putting type R cams and pistons in soon, so obviously the increased flow makes sense, otherwise I would agree with you, Deetz. Even still, I have seen dyno charts that show it does still gain a little higher up, just loses a little down low.

What he is saying is that for all the work it won't be that noticealbe. Not that it won't minimally help. GL though.
