Does Stock 2000 Si Lag?
I was wondering if it is normal if a Stock B16A2 lags from 1000 to 3000 RPM? and if so is it because of the ECU, and what should i do to not make it lag so much.

no tq in the low rpms. the best things are spark plug wires, better spark plugs and headers, 4-1 are better at low rpms, 4-2-1 are more top end, but anything thats bigger will help (piping)

And bigger piping will help but not too much, unless you have the compression to back it up. The ECU at this point doesn't matter much because there's just no torque down there (or anywhere in the powerband for that matter ).

It just has no TQ .. that's why when i race, i bring the RPM's up to around 5k rpms, and feather out the clutch; not too much wheel spin, i'm near the VTEC powerband (all top end on b16) and it won't bog down.

i talked to the guys at Motorsport Dynamics and they said a lightweight flywheel could make it alittle quicker in the bottom end.....can anyone vouch for this??

I'm guessing that the original poster wasn't talking about racing as he was referring to the 1000-3000 rpm range. Not everyone races all the time, and with a B16A, you've already "lost the race". Hate to break it to ya but torqueless FWDs weren't meant to be drag raced.

And how many cars, from the factory were meant to be drag raced from the factory? Hondas weren't meant to be turbod ... supercharged ... have nitrous. They weren't meant to have swaps, or frankenstein engines. Hondas weren't meant for nearly everything, so shut up queer.

a lighten'd flywheel will help out in the low rpm's def.
less rotating weight means it takes less power to turn the damn thing. get it?
thuss freeing up more power

Take it easy there. Didn't once mention anything about NOT modifiying your Honda, do whatever you want, it's your car, your money. But the guy was asking about his stock 2000 Si and people are giving him advice on launching/racing it. IMO, you wanna go drag racing, you'd better bring more than a stock 2000 Si to the table. Nothing against the car, I love mine, but I sure as hell know MY particular car isn't built for drag racing. Don't know about yours or everyone else's car who's got a swap/turbo/intake/Spoon wristbands/etc. whatever under the hood.

No really I used to luanch at 5500 rpms on my 00 si. I was gonna practice at 6k but my car got stolen so I never has a chance. Just practice feathering it and dont hold it too long, let it roll and when it catches shift to second and your gone. Really helps when you get the luanch down. Worked for me.
