I believe it can affect the speedometer, but only if you do not maintain the overall diameter of the wheel/tire. Thats why when you get a larger diameter wheel (16" vs. 14") you compensate for it by getting tires with a lower profile. (less sidewall) As long as you follow the plus sizing rule, it should not be a problem.

just keep the overall diametre the same ... then it should be fine ...

run a lower profile tire when using larger rims ..

15's will throw it slightly off? Thats odd, because the Si comes with 15's.

The SI's speedo is calibrated (as is any other speedo) for the rim/tires sizes the car comes with OE.

your not going to be 100% correct with the speedo and it will get even more off as the tires wear down but it's really nothing to worry about. Tirerack.Com shows Revs per miles which is how many times the tire rotates per mile take a look at that to compare plus sizing. It also shows the overall tire diameter too. Just look under sizes/specs and you'll find all that you need.

yes of course it will but not to any degree worth worrying about.

according to my calculations:

tire size .d. in inches

185/60-14 =22.74
195/50-15 =22.68
205/50-15 =23.07
205/40-16 =22.46
205/45-16 =23.26
215/40-16 =22.78
205/40-17 =23.46
215/40-17 =23.77

formula is as follows; tire width(mm) x aspect ratio(percentage- example .5 or .45) divided by 12.7(converts to inches) + wheel size = overall diameter of tire.

whew, DRAG II, you scared me...I just ordered some 15"s assuming they would be better performance wise, and here you had me thinking I overlooked some weakness in the size or something. They'll be wrapped in Kuhmo's, Ive heard good and bad about the tires, but we'll see!

Well, it was a CL type S, was he doing alot of burnouts and fast starts?
I couldnt do a burn out or hard launch if I wanted to!

What I dont get is, the treadwear rating is the same on the Kuhmo's as my stock Dunlops, so why would the Kuhmo's wear faster?
