Does intake manifold on gsr need the butterflys?
Just wondering if i need to keep the butterflys on the im.
going turbo soon and was advised to take off but just getting more opinions.
Thanks ahead of time
If i need leave the butterflys how can i wire them to a obdII dx harness from a 1996 civic dx (ek style)

if you take the butterflys out you might as well put on a blox or skunk 2 mani...
the wires depends on the ecu you will be running!!!

it works awesome. the butterflys r what make the gsr vtec kick twice first with them closed and then when they open the vtec kicks harder. ther is no reason to get a skunk2 or blox because all thats different is that they dont have the butterflys so it onlya single stage vtec engagement. i have it done with a ctr intake cam and when vtec kicks in it seriously kicks in enough to almost spin the tires just from vtec engagement. doing this to the im is commonly called the gsr trick manifold. peace

ok i took it out and threw the turbo on there. I think its off timing by a little tho. just my luck. Have to get under the car today. Took the butterfly off. Sounds like im having np with the intake portion. Just the timing thanks for all your help guys.

Why would you get under the car to fix the timing? Adjust the dizzy and use a timing light.

vtec does not "kick" twice. The path of the intake air is altered, thats it.
